Buy Rates - Prerequisites & Basic Knowledge

The Buy Rates section allows you to assign fees to PSPs dependent on MID.

Prerequisites

To utilize this function in PayInsight, you need to ensure:

  1. You have connected your PaymentIQ instance with PayInsight under Admin / Integrations

  2. You must follow the PayDirection PSP Account naming standard.

    1. If you haven't done so, you can schedule sessions with PayDirection by selecting the "Payment IQ Standardisation Package" under the “Services” section in the menu.

Understanding the Fee Modal

The fee modal allows you to assign fees to a PSP MID. It looks as follows:

The modal consists of Fee Types (Success Volume Fee, Settlement Fee, ETC.). Per fee type, there are inherently three types of inputs.

  1. Value format
    This decides if the fee is either a percentual-based fee or if it is a currency fee, ex USD.

  2. Tier Type
    This decides what type of tier structure the PSP has.

    1. You can select between:

      1. N/A

      2. Traditional Tiers

        1. TxCount

        2. Volume

      3. Slabbed Tiers

        1. TxCountSlab

        2. VolumeSlab

      4. Please read “Understanding the Tier Options” to better understand how the tier types work.

    2. When setting up the tiers, ensure that the last tier only has the first value, indicating that Y fee will be applied from X. Example:

  3. Value
    This will be used to calculate the fee and changes based on the above options.
    If the tier type is anything but N/A, there will be a value per tier range.

The following fee types can be set:

  • Successful Volume Fee

    • Default Value Format: %

Understanding the Tier Options

N/A

Tx count: 1100
Fee: 0.15€

Total Fee: 1100 * 0.15 = 165€

Traditional Tier Structure

  • “Volume”

  • “TxCount”

Tx count: 1100

Traditional Tiers:

  • 0, 250 = 0.1

  • 251, 500 = 0.09

  • 501, 750 = 0.08

  • 751 = 0.07

Total: 92.00

Breakdown:
First 250 transactions:
Rate = 0.10 EUR
Cost = 250×0.10=25

Next 250 transactions (251 to 500):
Rate = 0.09 EUR
Cost = 250×0.09=22.50

Next 250 transactions (501 to 750):
Rate = 0.08 EUR
Cost = 250×0.08=20

Remaining 350 transactions (751 to 1100):
Rate = 0.07 EUR
Cost = 350×0.07=24.50

SlabTier Structure

  • “VolumeSlab”

  • “TxCountSlab”

Tx count: 1100

Slab Tiers:

  • 0, 250 = 0.1

  • 251, 500 = 0.09

  • 501, 750 = 0.08

  • 751 = 0.07

Total: 77.00

Breakdown:
First 250 transactions (0 to 250):
Rate = 0.10 EUR
If your total transaction count is within this slab (0 to 250), all transactions would be charged at 0.10 EUR.
Cost = 1100×0.10=110

Next slab (251 to 500):
If your total transaction count falls between 251 and 500, all transactions would be charged at 0.09 EUR.
Cost = 1100×0.09=99

Next slab (501 to 750):
If your total transaction count falls between 501 and 750, all transactions would be charged at 0.08 EUR.
Cost = 1100×0.08=88.

Final slab (751 and above):
Since your total transaction count is 1100 (greater than 751), all transactions would be charged at 0.07 EUR.
Cost = 1100×0.07=77.00
